Limited Edition Reproductions

If collecting my original work is beyond your financial means, you might consider acquring a less costly digital reproduction. Or maybe several - because they're really affordable, even though each image is restricted to a limited edition of no more than 200 copies.

If you're anxious to see what's available, you can jump down directly to the images...
- or, read more about the details of reproductions below:

Often identified by the French term "Giclee" (because that makes it sound classy), digital printing is distinct from traditional, hand-crafted printing methods such as etching or engraving. This contemporary practice involves the use of inkjet printers to produce full-color copies of a digital photograph of an original work of art.

I personally inspect, sign and number each print, and deliver it to you with a signed certificate of authenticity.

Longevity - My prints are produced on 100% cotton paper, which I believe to be the most reliable substrate in the interest of longevity. I do not print on canvas, due to past trouble with that. The printing inks will fade in time, but they should last for at least several decades - long enough for many, many years of enjoyment. It's best to keep your prints out of direct sunlight, however, which is also true for original work - sunlight will fade anything.

Framing - The prints will be delivered to you unframed. This makes packing and shipping simpler and less costly, with fewer opportunities for damage along the way. Because the prints are on paper, they will need to be framed behind glass for the best protection. With your order, I'll include some printed recommendations for framing options.

Payment - The prints can be purchased by means of the PayPal buttons below each image. You do not need to have a PayPal account of your own in order to use PayPal to make a payment using the credit card of your choice. Once at PayPal, you'll have the option to order more than one copy of any particular image - but if you would like to purchase different titles at once, please use the PayPal buttons to make separate orders for each image. Although these orders will be separate from one another, I'll deliver all of your orders to you as a single package.

Delivery - At this time, I'm shipping within the United States only. Please allow up to three weeks for delivery from the time of purchase; the prints are produced on demand, and then shipped to me for inspection, signing and numbering, and then I ship them out again to your address - all of which takes some time. The purchase price includes the cost of shipping - there are no additional delivery charges added to the prices listed.

If you have any questions before making a purchase, please feel free to contact me by e-mail at:  kit@kitgentry.com

- Time Machine -
Print Size: 10 x 22 inches

This is Mabry Mill, a historic site along the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia. In the spring, magenta rhododendrons bloom along its millpond. This is a tricky subject for painting, because it could easily be imagined gracing the cover of a sentimental Hallmark card; my challenge here was to render it with real-life credibility that would transend the greeting card image. I drove through dense, early morning fog for two hours to reach this place by sunrise, and I've painted it under foggy conditions to give it an almost haunted quality - a sensation that I feel is appropriate for historic sites of this kind. To enter this building/machine and witness the operation of its massive, wooden gears is, in a sense, to be tranported back in time.

- Autumn Assemblage -
Print Size: 11 x 22 inches

A still-life that I began in 2018, but never really finished in the studio; instead, the source image for the reproduction is a photograph of the original oil painting, but with additional work performed through digital painting - which, by the way, is a genuinely valid form of painting involving the same knowledge and skills that I bring to my traditional studio work. The printing of giclee reproductions is an entirely digital process, so even a painting created entirely in a digital workspace would be perfectly compatible.

- Hydrangeas -
Print Size: 12 x 12 inches

I completed this pastel in 2019 as part of an exhibition on Maui that honored my color teacher, Dick Nelson, whose knowledge of color transformed my work.

- Twilight Staircase Study -
Print Size: 15 x 11 inches

This house in my neigborhood caught my attention because of the dramatic lighting on this staircase at twilight, and the owner of the place was gracious enough to allow me to set up in her driveway to complete this drawing. The original was charcoal and white pencil on grey paper.
