Wow, here's a blast from the past. This is a shot of my college dorm room at the University of Michigan, Couzens Hall. I was lucky enough to have a single room, so I had no roommates. Come to think of it, my non-existent roommates were pretty lucky, too. This shot was taken by some photographers who just happened to be passing by in search of pictures for the university calendar for 1990-1991, in which this photo appeared. My door was usually open to help with ventilation, so I often attracted more than a few onlookers whenever I was at work. The bookshelf behind me is loaded with books about Hawaii.

A self-portrait taken by remote control with one of my first digital cameras.
This was probably taken around 2002, give or take a year.
My friend Curtis Cost is very proud of this photo - he calls it his "National Geographic shot."
He took this on an evening when we were cooking "Black Oil," a painting medium, at his house.

In good company - myself with famous Maui artist Curtis Cost.
Below, we're lighting the burner below our kettle of Black Oil,
during the four hour process of cooking this home-made painting medium.
