2019: The Art Renewal Center, 14th Annual Salon
- My drawing "Twilight Staircase Study" was a finalist in this international competition, and appeared in the hardcover printing of the competition catalog.

 

2018: The Art Renewal Center, 13th Annual Salon
- My painting "Still Life with Decorative Pumpkins" was a finalist in this international competition, and appeared in the hardcover printing of the competition catalog.


2016: "The Hawaii National Parks Centennial Juried Exhibition."
- My painting "From the Center of the Earth" appeared at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center in this exhibition highlighting the significance of the national parks in Hawaii. The show was open to the public from August 30th until November 6th, 2016.

 

2016: Pratique des Arts Magazine, the "Essential Guide to Landscape" Issue of May, 2016
- My painting of "Waimea Canyon" was featured in a special landscapes issue of this publication from France; this was my second feature in Pratique des Arts.

 

2016: International Artist Magazine, Issue #108
- My oil painting of "Hanavave" appears on page 15 of the April/May 2016 issue of this arts publication, as a finalist in their online Challenge #92, "Landscapes." This is my second feature in International Artist.

 

2016: The "Yosemite Renaissance" Exhibition
My drawing of "Mount Watkins from Glacier Point" was accepted into this international, juried competition, on display at the Yosemite Museum in Yosemite National Park from February 26th through April 30th, 2016.

 

2015: Pratique des Arts Magazine, Issue #122
I was featured in a 6-page article about my pastel work in this arts publication from France.


2014: America's Parks II
I contributed an oil painting of the Grand Canyon to this national, juried exhibit focused on state and national parks throughout the U.S. This show went on tour at three venues across the country:

March - April, 2014: Ella Carothers Dunnegan Gallery of Art, Bolivar, MO
May - August, 2014: The Wildlife Experience, Parker (Denver), CO
September - October, 2014: Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, Tucson, AZ

 

2012: International Artist Magazine, Issue #58
I was featured in a 10-page article in the June/July 2012 issue of International Artist; the article details my methods with pastel, and includes a step-by-step demo of "Manawainui."

 

2007: "Witness to Time." .
A multi-artist exhibit at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center, featuring the 19th Century paintings of the missionary Edward Bailey, along with recent landscape paintings by eleven contemporary Maui artists. By invitation, I contributed three paintings to this show: "Cathedral of Time," "Night View of Haleakala from Route 340," and "Kahului from Iao Valley."

 

2006 - 2007: "Precious Resources - The Land and the Sea."
The Hawaii State Art Museum, Honolulu. A multi-artist exhibit; my 2003 painting of "Iao Valley" was featured in the show.

 

2004: "Malama Wao Akua 'o Maui Hikina."
Viewpoints Gallery, Maui. Art contest in support of the East Maui Watershed Partnership. My painting "Cloudforest" won First Prize.

 

2003, 2006: The Schaefer Portrait Challenge.
Hawaii's state-wide juried portrait contest, held every three years at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center. My work was featured in both 2003 and 2006. In 2003, my self-portrait in pastel won the Marion Freeman People's Choice Award.

 

2001: Arts for the Parks Top 100.
Jackson, Wyoming. A national, juried painting contest. My painting "Kipahulu from Kuloa Point" was accepted into the Top 100.

 

The Village Gallery, Maui.
I had annual shows here every January from 2000 until my departure from Hawaii in 2009.

 

Art Maui:
An annual, juried show at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center.
My work was featured in the show each year from 1999 - 2004, and in 2007.
Three of my paintings, "Backlight," "Waihe'e Valley," and "Iao Valley" were purchased from this show by the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts.

 

1991 - The University of Michigan School of Art.
Received the Bachelor of Fine Arts Award (one award per graduating class based on exceptional achievement).
